WATERY WEDNESDAY-RATTLESNAKE HIKE!!!
Tuesday I went on a hike up a creek (first photo). I had gone to take some wildflower photos but low and behold I had a surprise. I went up the hill and almost stepped on a rattlesnake. I only was able to recover enough to remember to take a picture but by that time he was more afraid of me and I only was able to get a picture of his tail and rattles. What a surprise!!! I did continue on my wildflower search and got quite a few photos. I have included one. Very interesting hike!!!
Be sure to click on snake and flowers to get the full effect!!!!!
Have a wonderful Watery Wednesday and be sure to check out all the other Watery photos!

Beautiful hike, except that rattler! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteYIKES!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I live in New Zealand. Thereis absolutely NO snakes in this land of milk and honey.
When I was growing up in Borneo, we never walked on the grass at night, in case like you, step on a snake. We didn't have rattle snakes, but we have other poisonous ones like cobras.
Do you carry a stick when you hike? Not to hit the name, but to beat the grass before you tread your next step?
Heck no!!
ReplyDeleteit has snake because its in the forest. i love your purple flower, very beautiful. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAll of us who do nature photography seem to have a lot of photos of critter tails over the years -- but I think this is one instance in which it's just as well!
ReplyDeleteI notice that Ann, above, mentioned that there are no snakes in New Zealand. There are no snakes here in Hawaii, either -- and we want to keep it that way.
A rattle snake? gee I dont like snakes, particularly this kind :) I am glad that you have your camera with you, that was quite an interesting hike. Hope to see more shots next time.
ReplyDeleteAwww...how i love the Beautiful Pacific Northwest! Awesome photos!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you almost stepped on that rattlesnake! That picture of his tail with the rattles is amazing. I've had two snakes in my yard in the last week, but they weren't poisonous. I wasn't quick enough to get their pictures though. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your kind comments!
ReplyDeleteA very close call! *shiver* Glad you're safe. Fantastic capture of its tail, by the way.
ReplyDeleteThe other photo are lovely as well.
Oh my! That would be enough to send me into a sheer panic! The first picture is absolutely heavenly!
ReplyDeleteOh Yike! Great shot, tho, of that rattler.
ReplyDeleteLove the little creek and the flowers.
The tail end is the best part of a rattler, it dosen't bite! Love the beautiful wildflower, too.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful blog, thanks for visiting.
Sounds like quite an adventure, glad both you and the rattler are Ok.
ReplyDeleteSnakes are always a startler. We have all sorts of snakes down here in OK. We run into them on our hikes every now and then. It still startles me when I see them.
ReplyDeleteLovely walk and wonderful photos. I'm glad you spotted the rattler ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Good grief! Nothing like a snake encounter to get your blood pumping! I can't believe you got that shot. Let me tell you that's the only part of a rattlesnake I ever want to see - the tail end going the OTHER way!
ReplyDeleteI love teh image of the creek. Like snakes too, but think I should be very careful meeting a rattlesnake. I live in sweden, we don´t have much poisenous snakes here.
